It’s totally outrageous sonographers at the Royal Hobart Hospital have been told they need to choose between a new ultrasound machine or patient ultrasound couches due to budget cuts.
Equipment that’s too old or no longer fit for purpose can’t possibly meet the health needs of Tasmanians and should be replaced. It’s not acceptable for patients and health professionals to have to put up with sub-standard equipment and healthcare.
This is the impact of the Liberals’ cruel $700 million cuts to health. It’s already putting people at risk. Things are only going to get worse as the full reality of the Liberals’ cuts set in.
The Liberal Government needs to stop passing the buck to Canberra and take responsibility for Tasmania’s failing healthcare system. Tasmanians deserve a health system that works.
