CBOS’ new short stay accommodation statistics show 500 whole-homes have been lost to short stay in little more than a year. The Liberals need to take action to rein in Airbnb to stop Tasmanian homes being converted to short stay accommodation.

With 500 homes being lost to short stay in little more than the last year, it’s clear Airbnb is out of control in the state.* 4719 whole-homes have now been lost to short stay across the state.

The Liberal Government have done nothing over the last decade to stop Tasmanian homes being converted to Airbnbs. It’s stripped thousands of homes off the market and driven up rents.

The Liberals short stay levy isn’t the action Tasmanian renters need. If the Liberals really cared about Tasmanian renters, they’d be putting a stop to new whole-home short stays and phasing out listings in existing areas
