New figures from Homes Tasmania show that the social housing waitlist is continuing to grow. It  highlights the continued failure of the housing system and the need for more action from the Liberal Government.

Tasmanians are struggling in the housing and cost of living crises. Trying to afford the necessities, from groceries to housing, is just getting harder.

The need for social and affordable housing is continuing to grow. Thousands of Tasmanians in need are crying out for assistance from the government. People are sleeping rough.

It didn’t use to be so bad, but for more than a decade the Liberals haven’t been building enough social and affordable homes. It’s just not good enough.

Housing isn’t just a basic need, it’s a fundamental human right. All Tasmanians should be able to access social and affordable housing if and when they need it.

The review of Homes Tasmania has highlighted significant issues. The Liberal Government must respond, both with the funding and reforms needed to meet Tasmanian’s needs.

The Liberals should be investing in building more social and affordable homes, not a billion-dollar stadium. They need to get their priorities straight.
