Rosalie Woodruff MP – Greens Leader
I was so proud to table the final report of the ambulance ramping inquiry in Parliament today.

The Greens established this inquiry because of the deep crisis in Tasmania after a decade of the Liberals neglecting and under-resourcing the health system. Throughout the inquiry we saw the government’s failures exposed by revelation after shocking revelation from patients, families, health staff, unions, and experts.

It’s been an honour to chair this inquiry and hear from so many brave and passionate people. I give deep thanks to everyone who shared their stories, insights, and expertise.

The inquiry heard harrowing stories and distressing evidence of the significant problems in the health system. However we also heard numerous solutions, and a resounding message that positive change in health is possible.

The inquiry has ended, but the fight to make sure the government listens to its findings and recommendations begins now.

Every Tasmanian deserves a public health system that provides timely, high quality and effective healthcare. The Greens will continue to use every means possible to hold the Liberals accountable, and to drive positive change.

Cecily Rosol MP – Greens Health spokesperson
The final report of the ambulance ramping inquiry has made extensive findings about the major problems in the health system and delivered a host of essential recommendations.

Every Tasmanian knows someone who has a horror story about our health system, and knows we are in a major health crisis. But what this inquiry uncovered was a reality even more shocking than what many people realised.

We know there are national problems in health, but the ambulance ramping inquiry has shown the state government’s failures have been a major driver for Tasmania’s health system crisis. Even now the Liberals are making building a billion-dollar stadium in Hobart their top priority, rather than fixing the health system.

Making positive change in the health system is possible, but only if the Liberals stop making excuses and commit to ambitious action. The ramping inquiry report provides numerous critical actions they should be taking, and we call on the government to accept all its recommendations.
