The many contradictions continue over the TasInsure/Tasracing saga.
Earlier in the week the Premier told the Parliament that a CorComms representative “did not tell the [Minister’s] adviser the intention was to distribute the words as a general message to industry”.
Today evidence published by the Caretaker Conventions Committee showed that was not correct. An email from CorComms to the Minister’s office about the matter had the subject line “Message to industry”.
In trying to explain this fact, a statement from the Premier read into Parliament this evening said:
“The Premier is advised the advisor does not recall receiving the email and notes he did not respond.”
That statement is in direct contradiction to another statement made by the Premier earlier in the week, where he said:
“Mr Turner sent the adviser an email which the adviser believed was a clarification about whether TasInsure would provide workers compensation.”
The government has now offered so many explanations for this whole mess that it seems like they can’t even keep track of their own words across a single week.
At what point will we actually get the truth?
