The Rockliff government’s decision to delay the implementation of improvements to accessible housing standards is unacceptable.
It’s so important we are doing everything we can to make our society more accessible to people living with a disability. Reforms to housing standards are a crucial part of these efforts.
It’s difficult for anyone to find a home right now, but if you’re living with a disability, it’s even harder. That’s not fair, and it’s why getting these new housing standards in place is so important.
It’s unacceptable to see delays to implementing these standards for accessibility. For this to happen without any consultation without the organisations working in the disability sector is even worse.
The Greens strongly call on the government to change their approach, and to make sure these housing standards are implemented as soon as possible.
