The government needs to face up to the skills shortages in construction and hospitality and implement a coordinated approach through State Growth and Education.

We have so many untrained and unemployed young people, as well as a defined skills shortage.

Tourism is Tasmania's future and the government needs to help fix the problem.

Tasmania needs a nimble and creative government response to these problems. We need innovative and targeted training programmes which will fit the strained sectors.

It's also crucial we help the unemployed and those exiting unsustainable industries, like forestry, to access training options.

It's time for the government to step up.
