The Greens fully support the Integrity Commission’s call for additional funding, in the wake of the Weiss Review’s recommendation for expanded Integrity Commission powers.

The usually quiet Chief Commissioner was oxygen clear – the Commission barely has enough resources to do the investigative work currently before them.

There’s still no word from the Rockliff Government on whether they plan to accept Ms Weiss’ recommendation to strengthen the Commission’s powers. That in itself if alarming, given both the Commission of Inquiry Report, and the subsequent Weiss Review called for a beefed up integrity body.

Whether the Integrity Commission gets the coercive powers they need or not, one thing is certain, they need additional funding.

The Greens expect that to be in the upcoming State Budget.
