The Tasmanian Greens strongly support calls from an alliance of environmental organisations to better protect Tasmania’s national parks and World Heritage Area from development.
For the past ten years the Liberals have undermined the protection of Tassie’s special places, and secretly worked to encourage developments in these areas.
After receiving a huge backlash from people from all walks of life, the government announced it would pursue a new approach. But what they’ve now announced is even worse.
The Greens have always been strong advocates for Tassie’s special places, and we always will be. In the next Parliament we will do everything we can to scrap the Liberals’ shonky process for development inside national parks and the World Heritage area.
