The Greens stand behind family violence, public safety and health advocates calls for firearms reform which properly protects the community through prevention.

These organisations are on the frontline, dealing with the heavy impacts of unlimited firearms in the Tasmanian community. They see the injuries and deaths, threats and coercive control, and trauma caused by firearms.

The Liberals should be acting on the expert advice and evidence presented by these advocacy groups in the name of public safety instead of pandering to the gun lobby.

The groups have called for real action to reduce the number of firearms in Tasmania. This means caps and not grandfathering reclassification amendments.

The Greens are committed to working with community stakeholders and across the Parliament to reform firearms laws in the interests of public safety – not the gun lobby.
