The Greens stand with healthcare and community sector workers taking industrial actions over the Rockliff Government’s continued failure to provide a fair deal for wages and conditions. The Liberals need to step up.

Reports from HACSU that the Liberal Government has reneged on a suggested deal are really concerning. Health and community service workers provide vital care to Tasmanians, and they deserve equivalent pay and conditions to other public sector workers.

Workers don’t want to have to undertake industrial action, but they’ve been pushed to this last resort by the Liberal Government. The health and community service sector has been waiting months for the Liberals to offer them a fair deal.

The Liberals need to start treating health and community sector workers with the respect they deserve, and ensure they have the pay and conditions befitting of the vital work they do for Tasmanians. They must reengage in these negotiations in good faith.
