The Greens echo calls from the CPSU for the Liberal Government to rule out privatising the Lands Title office in their public asset fire sale.

Tasmanians and local businesses rely on the Land Titles registry, which is currently equitably accessible and secure. The Land Titles Office should remain a source of government revenue that guarantees the community fair access.

We’ve seen when other states have sold off their Land Registries, price hikes have soon followed. In a cost of living crisis, Tasmanians cannot afford to have the same happen here.

The Liberals must unequivocally rule out selling off the Land Titles Office and other NRE state assets.  While the Greens welcome TasTAFE being ruled out of the privatisation agenda, cost saving through job cuts is unacceptable.

Tasmania needs greater investment into certified TasTAFE trade training, and a serious long-term plan. We are still waiting on Minister Ellis to actually tell the automotive industry what training in southern Tasmania will look like from 2026.

Tasmanians don’t want their critical public assets sold off to pay for a billion dollar stadium. The Liberals must rule out the ongoing investigations to sell off the Land Titles off and NRE public assets.
