The Greens express our deep sadness for the workers of Liberty Bell Bay, with the announcement the manganese smelter will close.
It’s disappointing news that the sale of Liberty Bell Bay has fallen through. This will be so hard to hear for the 250 workers who have been holding out for a positive outcome.
Workers have had a really tough time over the last months, with their future at the company hanging in the balance. This isn’t the outcome anyone hoped for.
Our thoughts are with workers, their families and the community during this incredibly difficult time. We encourage the Liberal Government to ensure support is available for workers to transition during this period.
