The Minister for Sport has continued to show unacceptable disrespect for the North Launceston Football Club in Parliament. He must deliver on this commitment to find a home for the Club.

While the Greens have always maintained that dishing out funds at elections isn’t the best way to allocate the public’s money, once a commitment is made, there is an expectation it will be delivered.

Minister Duigan made a promise to the North Launceston Football Club. It’s unacceptable to go back on his word, just because the Club attended a press conference with Labor. That behaviour is weaponising public money for the sake of politics.

The North Launceston Football Club has been based at York Park for more than 100 years and have a strong history in the community. They deserve to be treated as more than a political football.

The Greens call on the Liberal Government to apologise and to do the right thing and ensure the North Launceston Football Club has a home. The community deserves better.
