It’s past time to end greyhound racing in Tasmania, and the majority of Tasmanians agree.
Tasmania is one of the last places on Earth where greyhound racing has been allowed to continue. The industry has been exposed repeatedly for terrible cruelty towards these gentle, sensitive dogs – on and off the track.
Despite this, Liberal and Labor politicians continue to cheer on this brutal industry – and every year funnel millions of taxpayer dollars in to prop it up.
Successive Liberal Racing ministers have watched on and done nothing to address the repeated evidence of cruelty in the industry. Meanwhile the Labor Racing spokesperson is happy to go to the races and watch from the fenceline as innocent animals are pushed past their limits in the name of profit.
The Greens have been the only party in parliament standing up for greyhounds, and pushing against the industry’s cruel practices.
