This National Skills Week, the Tasmanian Greens are calling on the Rockliff Government to prioritise investment in training opportunities in future industry jobs.
Tasmanians deserve the first choice of future industries employment opportunities as the world rapidly traditions in the energy and transport sectors.
The Liberal Government’s recently announced $30 million VET Futures Fund to deliver upgraded equipment, which should focus on industries needed for Tasmania’s energy transition.
By creating a future-ready workforce, with training support and incentives, Tasmania and Tasmanians can reap the rewards of progress and be a steal ahead in the revolution that is coming.
Renewable energy projects and the industries they drive are growing in our state; Tasmania needs skilled local people to install and maintain renewable energy infrastructure, and the state should provide, on island, the services required to upskill mechanics so that they can service our accelerating number of electric vehicles.
Today the Greens call on the Liberal Government to step up initiatives to ensure Tasmania’s workforce is future-ready and can meet the needs of the energy and transport revolution that is upon us.
