With reports of a rising number of Covid cases in the community, the Rockliff Government needs to do much more to ensure the community is protected.
It’s not talked about as much in the community anymore, but Covid can still result in serious impacts. Even the fittest and healthiest people can be affected, let alone those who may be vulnerable due to a range of risk factors.
We believe it’s crucial the Rockliff Government do much more to keep the public informed about the spread of Covid, including reinstating weekly Covid updates and advising people of actions they can take to limit the risks of infection. This kind of information is especially crucial as we approach Christmas and gather in large groups of friends and family.
The messages we’re hearing from the Rockliff Government are extremely lacking. They should be reminding people Covid that is an airborne disease and to mask up in high-risk settings. And they should be pointing to the need to keep up to date with vaccinations, as well as continuing to inform Tasmanians the effects of catching the virus can be long term.
It’s really important for the health and wellbeing of the community that the Rockliff Government don’t just minimise this issue because it’s more convenient for them. The public deserve to know what is happening with the spread of Covid, and to be properly informed about what they can do to limit the risk of infection.
