In response to media questions, Minister Archer and a government spokesperson wouldn’t speak in support of Minister Ogilvie retaining her position after misleading Parliament.
What does the Premier have to say?
The Greens have written to the Premier, outlining how Madeline Ogilvie has misled the Parliament. If Minister Ogilvie won’t resign, we expect the Premier to sack her.
Minister Ogilvie has shown, by deliberately misleading the Parliament, she has no integrity. Tasmanians entrust a minister of the Crown to undertake serious and weighty responsibilities. To be dishonest with Parliament and continue in that role is untenable.
Premier Rockliff’s own integrity is at stake. He needs to show the Ministerial Code of Conduct, with the requirement to be truthful, accurate and honest, means something under his government.
But so far, the Premier’s been silent on this matter. It’s unacceptable.
We expect the Premier to act. If he doesn’t, the Greens will be forced to look at other options available to us in Parliament.
