The Greens welcome Madeleine Ogilvie’s resignation as a Minister.

Ms Ogilvie intentionally misled Parliament, and having done so there was no option but for her to resign.

In her resignation statement Ms Ogilvie has still refused to admit to her dishonesty and has once again tried to revise history. This appalling lack of integrity demonstrates just how unfit she is to be a Minister of the Crown.

The truth in this matter is now clear for all Tasmanians to see. It is on the Parliamentary record in black and white.

While the Greens welcome Ms Ogilvie’s resignation, we still have a range of questions about this matter. Those include why it took six months and multiple attempts at clarification for the truth to come out – even though other members of the government must have known she had lied.

We will continue to press for these answers, and to uncover the facts about legal matters relating to other Liberal Ministers and MPs.
