In a move which is both justified and necessary, TasRacing has temporarily suspended the harness training and driving licenses of Ben and Tim Yole following the damning findings of the Independent Stewards Panel.
The Panel found both Ben and Tim Yole persistently mistreated horses at the Yoles’ registered training premises at Sidmouth, confirming the findings of the Murrihy report last year.
The Independent Stewards Panel is set to make a further determination over other serious matters raised in the Murrihy report, within days so the suffering Sidmouth horses so far only have a temporary reprieve.
On the evidence, the Yole stable should be shut down never to cheat in a race or abuse horses again.
We hope the Panel agrees with everyday Tasmanians who have been sickened by the evidence brought by whistleblowers, animal welfare advocates, the ABC, and in the Murrihy report. They know the industry is sick and the Yole Stables represent everything that’s wrong with the racing industries.
Hopefully, TasRacing’s actions in suspending Ben and Tim Yole will stick once the Panel’s final report is handed down.
