Dr WOODRUFF question to DEPUTY PREMIER, Mr FERGUSON
What date were you advised the police Professional Standards investigation into Senior Sergeant Paul Reynolds was finished, and what it had found?
ANSWER
Madam Speaker, if I can clarify the question, is the member asking me at what date during the time I was police minister I was advised that the Professional Standards investigation had been concluded?
Dr Woodruff – Yes.
Madam SPEAKER – I believe it was.
Dr Woodruff – I do not understand the difference you are trying to make here. What date were you advised?
Mr FERGUSON – I am clarifying the question. If that is the question –
Madam SPEAKER – Interjections will cease. The question is when was the minister advised?
Mr FERGUSON – Thank you, Madam Speaker. In that case, not being the current portfolio holder, I would have to defer to my colleague, the minister for Police, and on his behalf, I give a commitment that the government will provide that answer. We need to seek that advice so I will take it on notice.
Madam SPEAKER – If I can just check, minister, are you suggesting that you are taking it on notice instead of the minister responsible, or will the minister responsible answer the question because you just referred it to him?
Mr FERGUSON – Madam Speaker, I am committing the government and taking it on notice because the question came to me. However, I am not the person in a position to obtain that advice from the department. The minister for Police is, and on behalf of our minister, I undertake to come back to the House with that information as soon as we are able.
