Ms O’CONNOR question to MINISTER for PARKS, Mr DUIGAN

Presumably, as Minister for Parks, if there was a breach of the National Parks and Reserves Management Act in a national park or terrestrial reserve, you would receive some advice from Parks. Have you received any information, advice or briefing from your advisers in Parks, who issue this lovely information, about the Ninepin Point Marine protected area and the impact of a mass salmon mortality event and all the associated pollution that goes with it on a very fragile globally unique marine reserve which has a reef in it?

Have you received any information at all from national parks or from your Parks advisers about this event?

ANSWER

Mr President, I will seek some advice.

Ms O’Connor – Well, that means the answer must be no.

Mr DUIGAN – I appreciate the question. I do not think I have anything further to add from my previous answer. It is a live investigation.
