The State Government awarded the new ferry contract to SeaLink Travel Group on 28 June.
It is fantastic that Hobart City Council is getting on board the push to have ferries on the Derwent River to ease traffic congestion and lower emissions.
Hobart's traffic woes will only be remedied sustainably for the long term if all three tiers of government make a commitment to investing in public transport.
