It’s a good day for Tasmania’s democracy, with the Expansion of House of Assembly Bill 2022 through both Houses of Parliament.
It has been 24 long years in the making so this is a good day. It is a good day for Tasmanian democracy.

The Greens were pleased to see the Premier table long-awaited legislation to restore the numbers in the House of Assembly. It is a good day for democracy.
Advice from the Tasmanian Electoral Commission confirms the best way to restore the House of Assembly is to simply reverse the legislative change made in 1998.
Mr Speaker, today we are asking for the House to provide in-principle support for restoring the seats in the House of Assembly from 25 to 35.

In the last term of the parliament, all parties agreed that the House of Assembly is far too small.
