Leave to Debate Motion Without Notice – No Confidence Motion

As promised in the earlier debates, we have listened really hard, considered this issue really deeply and discussed it with our team.
This is urgent. There is nothing more urgent than debating a no‑confidence motion.
A no confidence motion is an incredibly serious motion to put to this House and we take that seriously.
It is not just stepping back from those cards in themselves as helping mitigate the problem of pokies and gambling, it is all the interrelated issues that come along with that.
This goes to the heart of what is important in public life and, arguably, the most important attributes of community leaders, honesty, integrity, transparency.
To have a no-confidence motion being brought forward means that there is serious doubt about the actions that have been taken by people in this government.
The reason we are debating this motion is because we were let down. We and every other Tasmanian who cares about their fellow Tasmanians were let down.
The amendment is, in many ways, a significant departure from the original motion of no confidence, and yet it is not.
I rise to speak on the amendment and will save my substantive contribution on our motion after we deal with this.
