Amendment to Motion – No Confidence in Premier Rockliff
We are here today because of the actions of the Premier this morning and over the previous eight months or so since the election.
We are here today because of the actions of the Premier this morning and over the previous eight months or so since the election.
What we have in front of us is a Premier who, on multiple opportunities, multiple occasions, when given the chance to be honest with Tasmanians, has instead chosen to deceive..
There is clearly a justification for the Suspension of Standing Orders in this case and it is utterly urgent to debate this motion.
I seek leave to move - That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended to debate the following motion - That the House has no confidence in the Premier for the following reasons
On behalf of the Tasmanian Greens, today I am confirming that we have no confidence in the Deputy Premier and Treasurer Michael Ferguson.
In drawing my mind to the no confidence motion in front of us today, what I am thinking about is today and the current situation today.
It was abundantly clear that the person who spends a lot of time destabilising Cabinet, the Treasurer, had not a word to say for the Premier.
There are a couple of things I need to challenge the Premier on before I get into the substance of my contribution.
I too noticed the vigour in the Premier's defence of the Aboriginal Affairs minister this morning in contrast to his very flaccid defence of minister Ogilvie.
I pay my deep respect to the palawa Tasmanians, to representatives who stand in the Chamber today because of their protest to the words of this minister.
