The Rockliff Government’s demand that the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management to find $35 million in budget savings threatens the safety of Tasmanians and functionality of all emergency services.

Our emergency service workers provide essential assistance to our Tasmanian communities, and they’re already stretched. These cuts will also inevitably increase reliance on already struggling volunteer services. We need to increase jobs – not cut them.

Just imagine if the Liberal Government put Tasmanians first, and instead of Ministers sitting in a purple Cadbury train for a photo op, Willie wonka fountains and a billion-dollar stadium! Time for Tasmanians to see our hard-earned money invested into the vital staff increases needed for the emergency services and healthcare workers, to continue to protect Tasmanians.

If the Rockliff Governments priorities are not bread and circuses over the welfare of Tasmanians, then we will see essential services fully funded in September’s budget.
