Premier Will Hodgman must act on political donations disclosure as the Local Government Association of Tasmania adds to pressure for reform
“Tasmania deserves comprehensive state-based political donation disclosure laws to cover both state and local government,” said Greens Justice spokesperson Nick McKim.
“Failure to act by Mr Hodgman will be an admission that he is happy for our democracy to be for sale to the highest bidder.”
“If local government is prepared to clean up its act and advocate greater transparency, the state government should set the example, tackle corporate donor secrecy, and move on introducing comprehensive real-time disclosure.”
“Tasmanians deserve the transparency which a rigorous real-time political donations disclosure regime would provide,” Mr McKim said
