The elector poll on the fate of Rosny Parklands and Charles Hand Park is in the mailboxes of Clarence City community members. Now is the community’s chance to continue to voice support for our vital greenspaces, and vote No to building the AFL/AFLW High Performance Centre at these locations.
Rosny Parklands and Charles Hand Park are important parks for the community, used by residents to walk their dogs, and children for outdoor fun, including skateboarding and athletics.
The Clarence City Council’s City Heart Plan envisioned the Parklands as the centre of an open greenspace network for the community. This Plan was widely consulted on and welcomed, and proposes a concert space, arts and culture precinct, sports courts, edible gardens and needed medium density housing.
The AFL/AFLW High Performance Centre would destroy this vital community greenspace – impacts that are entirely avoidable given other viable alternative locations.
We urge all voters in Clarence to vote No to both questions on the elector poll.
