During the election campaign, the Liberal and Labor parties committed to reforms to allow pets in rentals.
For these residents, their homes in the park are their sanctuary, a place where they have built lives and found a sense of community.

The Tasmanian Greens are committed to fighting for the rights of renters, which is why we will move legislative amendments to provide tenants with the ability to make minor modifications to their homes. The Rockliff government has tabled a bill in parliament that will allow tenants to make modifications to prevent furniture from toppling. That's an important change, but it doesn't go far enough.
Tasmania's rental laws mean tenants have fewer rights than their mainland counterparts and, as a result, life is harder than it should be. The Greens have spent years campaigning for reform to rental laws, only to be repeatedly denied by your government and Labor.
I rise tonight in Homelessness Week to talk about homelessness and to join the call for more action to address what is currently an ever-expanding challenge, which is an ever-expanding curse for those in its grips.
