Ms BADGER question to Minister for POLICE, FIRE AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT, Mr ELLIS

Minister, the commission of inquiry made 43 criminal referrals to Tasmanian police. How many of these remain under investigation and how many of them have resulted in charges or prosecutions?

ANSWER

Police have a significant role to play in terms of the implementation of the commission of inquiry, and I thank the member for Lyons for her question. We have a range of recommendations which the government will be delivering. There are important police matters underway and others that have concluded in this space.

Broadly speaking, it is a matter for Police when it comes to the separation of powers, but I am more than happy to follow up for the member in terms of any information that we might be able to provide about matters that are ongoing or completed.
