Ms ROSOL (Bass) – Deputy Speaker, I rise to speak on behalf of the Greens on this Evidence (Children and Special Witnesses) Amendment Bill 2025. We will be supporting this bill. We recognise that for many people, including special witnesses, the court process can be difficult and the process of providing evidence is difficult. While the current processes have allowed for evidence to be provided in in different ways, we appreciate that this amendment will facilitate a smoother process and make things easier for the behind‑the-scenes action that needs to be taken. We support this because, hopefully, it will help in the process that people have to go through when they bring cases to court, to enable it to happen in a timely manner and in a safe and appropriate way that allows their evidence to be heard.
